American Heart Association’s Presents the “Fit Friendly Workplace” Gold Award to Cape May County

Fit-Friendly Worksite Gold SealThe American Heart Association’s “Fit Friendly Workplace” Gold Award was presented to the County of Cape May by Debbie VanSant, AHA Regional Representative at the Freeholders’ Meeting on February 10, 2015.

This award is presented to worksites that fulfill criteria such as offering employees physical activity support, increasing healthy eating options at work and promoting a wellness culture. Requirements for Gold level achievement include a certain number of employees as well as implementing at least six of the physical activity criteria, two of the nutrition criteria and one of the culture criteria listed in the application form. 

The Fit Friendly Award recognizes employers for their healthy work culture. Cape May County Government was one of 32 organizations in the state to receive the Gold Award from the American Heart Association.

The totals Nationally for 2014 are:

  • 4,368 Worksites Recognized for 2014
  • Represents 11.7 million employees working in Fit Friendly Work Sites

The American Heart Association recognizes employers who go above and beyond when it comes to their employees’ health. "We want to reward organizations for their progressive leadership and concern for their staff".
